The beverage industry has done it again. They've tried to improve on an already perfect product. There is nothing better than an ice cold Coca Cola straight from the can. The kind where the first sip makes your nose bubble, your eyes water and takes half the enamel off your teeth.

But now they've jumped on the health-nut bandwagon and have come out with a vitamin fortified Diet Coke Plus.

Vitamin fortified??

Sure, I have no problem with the added vitamin D to my milk and the iodine in my salt. You can even add folic acid to my cornflakes and calcium to my OJ. (The drinkable kind, not the white bronco guy.) But adding vitamins to coke?

No thanks!

When I need a coke, I need a COKE! I want all the calories, all the caffeine, all of the rust removing properties and no vitamins thank you very much.

When I want to be healthy I will eat a carrot. When I want pleasure, you can't beat the real thing.

Don't know about the vitamins but I read the other day about "Coke Black" i.e. coke with coffee. Is this new?

I made the mistake of giving a cafeine drink to my tutoree one night. His mother explicitly told me to never do that again! he was bouncing off the walls all night!

Guess I will be deprived.

This reminds me of the organic, whole grain Chips Ahoy cookies I saw at a grocery store the other day. At first, I was like, 'Wow...a healthy cookie!' Then a few minutes later I thought, 'Errr...they 'd probably taste like crap...'

I guess if I want healthy, I'll stick to the natural stuff...except for those 100 calorie snack packs I like to buy.
